When rescuers from Star Rescue Network, RSA India, received a call about a street puppy in desperate need, they had no idea just how severe her condition was. The tiny pup, later named Rahi, had a massive lump on her belly—so large that she couldn’t even lie down comfortably.
Rahi was completely alone on the streets, with no one to care for her. Despite her fragile condition, she showed no fear. She was young, brave, and filled with a will to survive.
But the size of her swollen belly was alarming. At first glance, it appeared to be a giant tumor. Rescuers wasted no time rushing her to a veterinary clinic.
After a thorough examination, the medical team determined that the lump wasn’t a tumor, but an inguinal hernia—a condition where internal organs push through a weakened area in the abdominal wall.
Though she was still very small, surgery was the only safe option. The risk of complications was high, but without treatment, Rahi’s future was uncertain.
Under anesthesia, the veterinary team carefully repaired the hernia and removed two loose teeth that could have caused problems later.
