Not only does it have a very strange face, but the pig-faced shark Oxynotus centrina is also known to whine like a pig when pulled out of the water.

Oxynotus centrina or pigface shark is a rare species and is classified as “endangered” in the Red Book. They are rarely seen because they usually live at a depth of about 700m above sea level.

Oxynotus centrina is a species of shark in the family Oxynotidae. They live in the eastern Atlantic Ocean from Norway to South Africa, but are most commonly seen in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Mediterranean Sea has no shortage of exotic sharks. In July 2019, fishermen in this area caught a “bare” shark. It was a shark that appeared to be born without skin or teeth.
